Feeling a bit out of sorts? Not quite yourself? Stressed about the uncertainty of the future?
Exhale, you are in very good company!
Life usually feels pretty good when you are in the driver’s seat. You know, those times when you have 20/20 vision and your path is crystal clear. You have a destination or goal, decide your timing, who is joining you, and how you’ll make whatever you want happen. In a nutshell, the world is your oyster and you’re in control. As a coach, popping into the driver’s seat of life is precisely what I hope for my clients.
In the last few weeks, conversations with clients, friends and family have elicited a similar theme in sentiment about 2020 – it’s a really bad year…perhaps the worst year ever. While there are many reasons this year may fall to the absolute bottom of our list, I find it interesting (albeit understandable) that we have already decided its place on the leaderboard with half a year left. If we have the power to decide it’s ending at the mid-point, wouldn’t it be preferable to craft a better ending?
Here are the good things I’ve noticed during this incredibly challenging and devastating time - I hope we can take this “stuff” with us on our new track as we collaboratively build a healthier tomorrow.
Feeling a little overwhelmed and not quite at the top of your game? If yes, you are in great company with the rest of the world who are navigating uncharted territory and constant change …daily, hourly and minute-by-minute!

While you likely know that your body needs exercise to stay healthy, did you know that your brain needs movement to operate at its peak capacity?
If you do one thing differently this year, make 2018 the year you add walking to your daily routine – your mind is depending on you!
Have you ever tried to change your “unchangeable” plane ticket and the agent says “Sure, let me see what we can do for you?” When she returns, not only does she change your ticket, but she offers an upgrade? How about when you go to pay the handyman for repairs done on your home, he tells you “don’t worry about it, it was such a small project, I can’t charge you”? Or, you know that restaurant that has an hour wait? All of the sudden the host says I can get you in now and he sends over appetizers on the house - just because.
Want to boost your creativity, improve your problem-solving ability, connect more effectively with colleagues and feel more energized each day?
Most likely you have heard increasing noise about the extreme health risks of too much sitting, but did you know that getting up and moving can offer big benefits to your mental health, work performance, productivity and relationship with colleagues.
Have you ever thought "If I was younger, I'd do..." or "If I didn't take the path I took, I would have done..."?
Good news, YOU STILL HAVE TIME!
If you are reading this post, you are still breathing, living AND still have time...most likely, a LOT of time to do the things you thought you are too old to be doing or to be the person who you really want to be.
House Cleaner. Gardener. Dog walker. Meal delivery. Organizer.
So many services and still so little time (and so much stress).
Over the years, have you found yourself adding on to your professional staff of life "helpers"? I'm talking about all those people and services that we hire to presumably make life run a bit smoother, cleaner, sweeter, while we focus on the rest of life?
At face value, creating meaningful connections can seem like no sweat. In fact, as social beings, shouldn't it be second nature? In theory, yes...however the reality is not always aligned with the theory. Building your "circle" when you are in a new situation can feel daunting. Download "Connecting 101" for some tips on how to create and nurture your community.
More and more I am hearing about students getting into the college of their dreams (or the one just short of their dreams) and, after not feeling like it's the right fit, they transfer at the semester or year-end.
Each time I play tennis or take a lesson, I find myself getting more life pointers than actual points on the court.
When you are flooded with things to do (or decisions to make), stress levels are high and you feel like you barely have time to breathe, what is your natural response?
When you are in the "thick of life" and just getting through each day, it is sometimes hard to step back and realize you actually are doing just fine.
If you don't know your female clients, now is the time to step out of the office and get to know them.
Confidence does not just land on your doorstep. You are not genetically predisposed to having or not having it. Every one of us is responsible for pro-actively cultivating the feeling through regular deliberate practice.
“Gratitude is the fabric of our life – it's the emotional spackle that fills in the cracks of relationship”
– Robert Emmons
When predicting the success of a goal, a key ingredient is to assign a deadline for completion. Just curious, do you know the date of your last breath?
